Each week, we want you to be filled up with all of the strength and power that Jesus gives us for our workouts and our daily lives.
This week, we want you to be reminded to take up your cross daily. What does that mean exactly? First, let's read this scripture where Jesus admonishes us to take up our cross...
"Then He said to them all, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?'" - Luke 9:23-25
How can we apply this scripture to our daily fitness and health? It applies perfectly when we approach our workouts and exercise routines with discipline and submission. It takes a daily dying of yourself to discipline yourself to workout. It's not easy to do. You don't naturally want to do it - you'd rather rest, wouldn't you? Well, when it comes to fitness, just like everything else in the Christian walk, we are to die to ourselves, do what we know is good for us so that God can work in us to His fullest abundance. If I don't discipline my mind and my body and submit to Jesus in the area of fitness, I'm missing out on some of His goodness and fullness for my life - whatever that may be.
That's not to say that we should beat ourselves up when we choose to do what we want. We simply just need to come back under submission to Him, take up our cross again and surrender to His will for our lives.
And then, watch as our obedience produces fruit we would have never imagined if we had continued on our own path.
